Love green. Hate waste.

Firstly, I must apologise for not updating my blog for well over a year! My last post was in March 2021!😳 What can I say….I’m a baker not a writer.😬 However, having said that, I find myself enjoying this process of putting my thoughts down and remembering the highlights of what has happened during the year. What’s more, the beauty of this process seems to bring about a heightened sense of awareness for all I have. I am bursting with pride and filled with so much gratitude to all my lovely customers who have been so supportive and appreciative of my efforts in crafting their cake orders! I only wish I had more time and ability to write! ☺️ I may be slightly hazy with some details from more than a year ago, but one thing’s for sure! My little business has certainly grown in demand despite the pandemic and cake sales and requests have continued to increase (grateful for all your recommendations) to the point that I have to sadly turn away customers each week. So here’s the second thing ...

Where has Jan & Feb gone?

Image
From my last post in December about my 2 day pop-up stall, I have got to know some lovely people and learnt a lot from that experience but best of all, £88 was raised for The Archie Foundation. But since then, time has gone by in a flash...though it seems dragged out and long at the same time!! 🤔 That just seems like a contradiction but January feels strange and out of sync as we enter into a whirlwind of lockdown, home-schooling and the winter blues. Feeling sluggish and heavy from all the comfort food I have been stuffing myself with, I decided to come up with a low fat, low sugar, high protein light sponge cake range called Decocake. With designs and words incorporated into the light cake sponge, there is no need to add extra frosting or fondant to decorate the cake! The cake sponge is light and moist with the right amount of sweetness that will satisfy your cake cravings without the guilt! Then we had a change of scenery when it started to snow and the dreary world around us beca...

Kawaii (cute) Vulpix Pokémon Cake

Image
With many having to deal with social distancing measures in place, our birthdays are a more intimate affair now. Big birthday parties are not really a viable option. But birthdays can still be an exciting affair, especially when there is an EXTRA special cake to look forward to! Memorable photos taken, will undoubtedly become treasured keepsakes for life! When I asked my daughter, Thea, what sort of design she wanted for her birthday cake, she excitedly said,“A Vulpix cake!” I noticed from her quick response and eagerness in her voice, she has already put some thought into it! 😆 Pokémon has been popular even back when I was a little kid. Seeing how it’s still so popular now with my kids, tells me, Pokémon and all the many imaginative creatures and characters are here to stay for generations to come! So, now that the character has been decided, I set about thinking of the actual design of the cake. Thea wanted to be ‘surprised’ by what I would come up with, but as I didn’t have a party...

Happy Blog and Logo Launch Day!

Image
O No better way to launch my new blog in October (on the eve of Halloween, to be exact!) than to showcase Jack Skellington and Zero from Tim Burton’s ‘Nightmare before Christmas’. Though I am not a fan of Halloween, I am certainly a big fan of the movie and love all the endearing characters in it. I loved how Jack and Zero turned out. But surprisingly, what I found most challenging was the curly hill. It took me several attempts before I had what I was happy with. I was also very pleased with how Sally’s patchwork fondant turned out.  If like me, you love cake and cake designs, stay tuned to this blog as I’ll be keeping you updated with the cakes I create, delighting your sight and (hopefully) taste with my creations! I also hope to post competitions from time to time, for you to stand a chance to win a cake! So subscribe and be kept informed of the latest happenings on Pretty Party Cakes by Eileen!
Order yours today and mark your special occasion with a memorable bespoke cake that taste as good as it looks!!
